It Passive Voice (consider revising) that the gods created the earth for the mortals but declined them from ever treading on mount Olympus. I my opinion I do not think they should be allowed because, mount Olympus was not made for them to roam too many events were taken place there. Such as in the bible with Adam and Eve god made the garden for them, but forbid them forever eating from a certain tree; the same rules apply. Mount Olympus was a place for only the gods. It was said that mount Olympus were Zeus (King of the gods) thrown was placed and that Zeus, Hera (Mother/Earth goddess) and all their children found comfort upon that mountain. To me it would be the same as a numerous amount of strangers always coming to your house and always asking you for something different with every hour they stay with you .If the mortals were allowed it should be a place where they can be worshiped. In addition, the gods believed that the mortals spoiled the earth in which they created for them. With the constant “Troubles”, mortals prevail upon the mountain they could dismantle the secrecy in which the mountain stands for. However, on the other hand if the mortals can make it to mount Olympus without any help from the gods then the choice is theirs. It would only be fair that the mortals get the choice to go, but through certain obstacles to get there. If they going to the top of mount Olympus were what their heart truly desires then a few obstacles would just spice things up. My strong belief remains that the mortals should not be allowed on mount Olympus. To me it would be the same as letting mortals into heaven before they died.

Gay marriageBy Briana SolanWhat's the definition of marriage? Two people who love each other and Stand before god and unite. O.k. Correct. So why is it that 75% of the world deems gay marriage as "unconstitutional?" straight people marry all the time for the wrong reasons. Maybe 1/4 of those heterosexuals marry for love. The others marry for money, to be legal, or even unknowingly. So what more than half of the world is saying is that two straight people who hate each other have more of a right to be together than two gay people to love each other? Bullshit! Why is the world so afraid of change that they would stop two homosexual people from sharing in the love that two heterosexual people experience? They have a right not only as people but as human beings to take the steps to the final commitment. It has been said that same-sex marriage go back to the 3rd and 4th century.Historian John Boswell claims the 4th century Christian martyrs Saint Sergius and Saint Bacchus were united in the rite brother-making, which he calls an early form of religious same-sex marriage. Both the Roman Catholic and Christian Church opposes of same-sex unions, arguing that acts of sexual intimacy are only proper between a man and a woman, and even then should only take place when they are married. The government agrees and states that the definition of marriage is an act between a husband and wife and that two men or two women is not morally acceptable. The most common objection to same-sex marriage is with same-sex marriage the couple is fertile , and that the same-sex partnership is inherently sterile. However there have been many cases where same-sex couples have adopted. Not all appose to the thought of same-sex marriage. It is very legal in Canada , Boston, Iowa and Massachusetts. Many people leave their home town and come from all over the world to travel their and get married. Many who live in the state are greatly against it and say the constitution does not allow it. But no where in the constitution does it bane it or consider it “un-American.” The it is clear to me is that if they can tell you who you can and cant marry then they can tell you who you can and cant be. If they continue to ban gay marriage across the state then soon there going to make a law that bans you from being gay! And I bet they wont stop there!

Athena is the Greek virgin goddess of reason, intelligence, arts and literature. She was the daughter of Zeus. It was said she was born full grown , bursting from his head ; unlike his other children she was motherless. As the tale of judgment has it. Athena was one of the two goddesses who lost the beauty contest to Aphrodite. This is part of the reason Athena sided with the Greeks in the Trojan War.Athena was the first goddess who defeated Poseidon in the vote over who would be the patron god of Athens, because her gift was more valuable. Athena gave the olive tree. On Crete it is believed that she was the war goddess who took the shape of a bird. Besides that, she guided people to wisdom and taught them crafts. Like most goddesses there are myths that follow their success such as: She competed with Poseidon for the patron ship of Athens ,She helped Perseus kill Medusa ,she helped Bellerophon become the master of Pegasus. She invented the flute. She made an olive tree grow on the Acropolis and so became the patroness of Athens. She opposed Paris and the Trojans in the Trojan war. She punished the victors of the Trojan war because they were sacrilegious. She helped Odysseus' son Telemachus in his search for his father. They also say she greeted Odysseus when he got home and helped him kill the wooers. The Phenomena we get from Athena would be our craftsmanship and our women empowerment.

So we packed up and left all our problems behind in Virginia and moved to L.A. Even though that was when I was twelve the memory still burned in my head like it was yesterday. With it was the memory of losing my dad. I remember standing on my tippee toes trying to see in the casket. Five years later here I am still short for my age. In lovely L.A. I believe this was the best thing that ever happened to me. I have my best friend Olivia- a total drama queen, who only dated preps , and suggested that I do the same. Even though Olivia is my number one lover, my best buddy who could easily put Balto , Lassie and Beethoven to rest is my Norfolk Terrier , Puka. My mom got me him shortly after we moved and ever since then he’s always been by my side. My seventeenth birthday was only three months away and I couldn’t wait! I was so over being sixteen that it hurt. I live in this classic Victorian three-story house. My life was nothing less than a fairy tale, I could be on MTV “The fabulous life of Alynna Arscott- Sike! Who was I kidding? My life was okay but nothing fabulous. I considered myself normal looking even though moms and Livi always told me I was beautiful I still think I’m just average. I had brown curly hair that ran down my back , I was short with no hips ,a full bust-line ,and a Kim Kardashian butt (something Olivia wished she had) , and just normal green eyes. I was smart and had style but still didn’t qualify to be on MTV.

Stereotypes have been used to characterized people for decades whether its based on race and or appearance. Even though some of us believe its wrong we do it all the time without even knowing. We look at a person and we automatically make a list in our head of who the person is and what we think their capable of. For instance people look at me and think I’m a poser because I’m a cheerleader who loves the color black. Already in their minds they have what society says a cheerleader is suppose to look like; preppy, popular, stuck up, sometimes unintelligent, and wears pink or another prissy color. People look at me as a cheerleader an aspect me to fall under those characteristics and when they see I’m nothing like that and have a love for the color black they think I’m pretending to be something I’m not. Black is my favorite color ,and I love to listen to rock or alternative rock. Those who know this about me and don’t know me have in their I’m emo or Goth. It’s impossible to like something without falling in a category society has placed us under. The harder I try to prove or show who I really am as a person the more I’m criticized and fall deeper under their stereotypes. I realize there is nothing that I can , society will always place me under a specific class based on who they think I am , but not who ill make myself to be.
