New Zealand entered the Second World War by declaring war on Germany on September 3 1939 . Many different things motivated the New Zealand to get involved in the war but the number one thing was its reliance on Britain according to Google sources it “meant that if she were threatened, New Zealand would be too in terms of economic and defensive ties“. There was also a strong link between the former British colony and the United Kingdom, with many seeing Britain as the “mother country“ . Prime Minister summed this up at the outbreak of war with a quote that would become a popular cry in New Zealand during the war:"Where Britain goes, we go! Where she stands, we stand!"New Zealand was one of the leading countries that provided personnel for service in the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy. The New Zealand Division of the Royal navy were the new medium bombers waiting in the UK to be shipped to New Zealand. They also contributed the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. A total of 140,000 New Zealand men served over seas for the allied war effort while 100,000 more served on Home Guard duty. New Zealand was a tremendous influence fighting in many places such as Italy , Galatas , Meleme , and Crete following Great Britain to the end .Many New Zealanders served alongside other commonwealth sailors in vessels of the Royal Navy and would continue to do so throughout the war. New Zealand government had also offered to the UK 30 Vickers Wellington bombers to fly with them . New Zealand alongside with Australia served as a major help throughout the war. Though they are a small country they still served just as big of a hand as another country.
